What an MLM mobile app should actually do
Most distributors check their phone far more often than their laptop. That makes the app the real front door of your business — and the place where trust is won or lost. A website squeezed into a wrapper will not survive daily use.
The six screens that matter
- Dashboard: today’s earnings, team size, pending payouts and rank progress in one glance.
- Genealogy: a zoomable tree that opens quickly, even for members 20 levels down.
- Wallet: balance, ledger entries and the reason behind every credit and debit.
- Withdrawals: request, track status and see deductions before submitting.
- Reports: income by period, level or plan, exportable if needed.
- Notifications: commission credited, payout approved, KYC status — with a reason, not just a bell.
Performance is a feature
A genealogy screen that takes eight seconds to load will be abandoned. Trees must be paginated or virtualised, images optimised, and API calls batched. Test on a mid-range Android phone on a 4G connection, not on a flagship with office Wi-Fi.
Offline tolerance
Distributors work in areas with poor connectivity. Cache the last dashboard and wallet snapshot, and make write actions (like withdrawal requests) retry safely instead of failing silently.
Security expectations
- OTP or biometric login, with session expiry.
- No bank details visible without re-authentication.
- Device-level logout for lost phones.
- Audit trail for every withdrawal request.
Android first, iOS when justified
In India, Android covers the majority of distributors. Launch Android first, measure usage, then decide whether iOS development is worth the cost. Avoid publishing fake store links before the app exists — it damages trust more than the delay.
